To mark the International Day of Women in Industry, UN Women and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Colombia brought together partners for a conversation on “Gender-Responsive Industry: Tools and Lessons from the WEPs.” The initiative included a webinar and the promotion of stories featuring women leaders from sectors such as services, aquaculture, energy, and health.
The discussion highlighted the important contributions women make across Colombia’s industrial sectors while encouraging reflection on the barriers that continue to limit their full participation and leadership. By showcasing the experiences of women working and leading in diverse industries, the initiative demonstrated both the progress that has been achieved and the work that remains to ensure equal opportunities.
The event also provided an opportunity to explore how the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) can support companies in creating more inclusive workplaces, strengthening leadership pathways for women, and advancing gender equality across value chains and industries.
