Safer Cities: A Girl's Eye View of Living in Delhi

Plan International
By 2030, 700 million girls will be living in urban areas. While there are more opportunities in cities, there are also increased risks. Girls are more likely to be educated and participate in politics and less likely to be married early. However, they face increased abuse, exploitation and insecurity.

Our research shows adolescent girls often don’t feel safe in cities. They experience abuse, and are excluded from decision-making processes that affect their lives.

For girls who live in cities to be able to follow their ambitions, they must be free from discrimination and violence, and have access to equal opportunities.
