How Digitl Literacy Keeps Irene, a telecom dealer in Kitgum, Northern Uganda moving

This video is an interview with Irene Aciro, a 30-year old lady here in Kitgum district in the northern part of Uganda. Irene is a mother of 2 children and married to one man. She uses the internet to boost her business. She says it was not really easy to get his husband to accept her to start up her venture, she used her tricks to get the husband to accept and support her. Today, she earns about USD5000 everyday from the sales of phones, sim-cards and othr telecom support services. She employed 10 young people of whom 7 are ladies. The three gentlement ride motorcycles (bodaboda) around the city and in the neighborhood to deliver airtime (phone time) to retailers door to door. The 7 ladies sit on their computers to handle customer registration, phone sales and other support services from the premises. She hopes to employ moew youth especially the girls who just completed school so that they get inspired. She added that there are so many women and girls out there who are under the bindage of their men. They are never allowed to venture into business on their own. Her advise to such ladies was that they needed to sit their husbands down and clearly explain the importance of them engaging in business. Their hsibands would definitely have to accept It should not be argument or conflict or tension between to two.
