To mark the opening of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, Uniting Business LIVE was held between 21-23 September 2020. It convened leaders from business, Government and civil society to showcase their commitment to the UN’s mission, drive business ambition on the SDGs; take stock of the state of the world and gaps in progress; and highlight practical examples and actionable solutions. Uniting Business LIVE included the Private Sector Forum (Monday 21 September), the Global Impact Forum (Tuesday 22 September) and the SDG Business Forum (Wednesday 23 September). The EVENT on “Engaging WEPs: Fighting Everyday Sexism and Domestic Violence in COVID-19 Recovery” was held at the Target Gender Equality Lounge during the Global Impact Forum.

Margaret Johnston-Clarke, Global Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, L'Oréal Group
Margaret Johnston-Clarke is the Global Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer of the L'Oréal Group. She is a French-American Yale graduate with 25 years of work experience in Corporate Social Responsibility, Philanthropy, Branding and Communications. She is in charge of co-creating, contributing and leading the Group's Global Diversity & Inclusion strategy and projects. These include long-term programmes focused on gender (including Gender-based violences/gender equal pay gap/LGBTI), disabilities, ethnicity, supporting communities including Refugees. She has spent half of her career at L’Oréal in key positions in CSR including Deputy General Manager of the L’Oréal and in Brand Communications in Brands such as Lancôme and Garnier. She also spent over six years at the non-profit Fondation Agir Contre l’Exclusion (FACE) where she ran several educational programs in inner cities, and five years at LVMH as Head of Image and Integrated Communications for the Moët & Chandon House. Ms. Johnston-Clarke is married to an American artist, has three amazing boys, and lives in Paris, France.
Hosted in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact and Promoting Economic Empowerment of Women at Work through Responsible Business Conduct in G7 Countries (WE EMPOWER - G7 Programme), a programme funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by UN Women and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The WE EMPOWER G7 Programme convene multistakeholder dialogues in the EU, Canada, Japan and the US to exchange knowledge, experiences, good practices and lessons learned in the context of the changing world of work.
