Shenzhen Fringe Art Center (FAC), as an innovative organization focusing on urban culture and art, has implemented the principle of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) into practical actions by promoting gender equality and advancing women in the workplace and society. With more than 80% female employees and managers, we provide an international stage and strong support for female employees in the practice of sustainable development. We believe that diversity is a valuable resource, and will bring endless possibilities. In addition to the internal action, FAC and Shenzhen Women and Children’s Development Foundation invited Japanese female artist Lulu as the Charity Ambassador of the 2020 Shenzhen Fringe Festival, and donated part of the art products for charitable purpose, sending warmth and strength to the disadvantaged groups. In 2021, FAC united with Brighter Sound, a creative music charity based in Manchester, to deepen the communication and cooperation between Chinese and British artists and cultural institutions on issues of sustainability, social inclusion and gender equality. By linking female and non-binary artists from both countries, the collision of music from different cultures is presented through online sharing and creative showcase. Their work was performed at Fringe Online, one of the sections of the 2021 Shenzhen Fringe Festival, and will continue to be presented in Manchester next year. Through various art projects, we aim to reveal the remarkable contributions women have made to the cultural and art industry, both in front of and behind the scenes, to eliminate prejudice against women and change the mindset and behavior towards women and sexual minorities. We believe that both protecting women's rights and building a culture of gender equality lie in great importance in the development of enterprises and social culture. We will continue to build a bright prospect for our female employees, encourage women to play critical roles in the enterprise, and constantly enhance the public's awareness of female artists and art forms through the means of art, so as to create a more inclusive female art and cultural ecosystem.
