The United Nation’s introduction of the Woman Empowerment Principles is a timely and critical step towards achieving gender parity at work. Gender Equality is not only a core SDG but also impacts businesses positively, which is why it must be a strategic objective for Global Inc. We simply cannot afford to let the enormous potential residing with half the world’s population remain untapped. It is imperative that we create a more enabling environment for women at work, eliminate stereotypes and grant them their rightful opportunity to be equal contributors. The UN WEPs will provide a common framework and hopefully nudge the private sector to walk the talk when it comes to ensuring more gender-diverse workplaces. At ReNew, we pledge to uphold these principles and I would also urge other corporates to come on board as signatories, as together we can make a huge difference.
