iGA Istanbul Airport / iGA Havalimanı İşletmesi A.Ş.

Kadri Samsunlu (M)

As iGA Istanbul Airport, Turkiye's gateway to the world, is in the most important global transfer center in the region, it is our belief that acting in accordance with the principles of environmental protection, economic growth, and social development amongst others, which are based on sustainability, is an integral part of the values we wish to nurture, not just for today but also for the future. From the beginning we decided that iGA’s focus would be on "sustainability" for all our future activities, as well as for our contributions to the aviation industry both in Turkiye and all over the world. As part of this commitment, we are aware of the importance of increasing the employment opportunities for women and ensuring equal opportunities for our employees in terms of both economic and social progress, and we are trying hard to improve our performance in this area. Increasing the employment opportunities for women across the board has become one of our corporate performance measurement criteria in this new era, which is one of most important and recent examples of these practices. We are determined to increase the percentage of women employees, who currently make up 27% of our workforce, to 30% by 2025. To achieve this aim, we are starting online training practices called "Equal Opportunities" for all our employees. We are prioritizing social rights and practices which support our female employees. As well as continuing to offer a nursery allowance to employees who are mothers, we will also shortly be making the kindergarten at the Istanbul Airport terminal to our workers. Furthermore, we are continuing to improve our practices by offering prenatal classes, a rarity in Turkiye, and psychological support is provided to our female employees when they return to work after giving birth. We have also decided to continue our training practices for women to increase capacity under our Social Investment Program. We will be offering support to female entrepreneurs by increasing the number of activities on offer soon, to generate income from these initiatives, particularly at Istanbul Airport Terminal, and to contribute to production sustainability. In addition to the above, I should underline that we aim to divulge the current situation and improvements concerning employment opportunities for women and equal opportunities through our Sustainability Report, which is published each year, and to raise awareness of this issue. As part of the iGA family, we are aware that there are many more things to be done and many more steps to be taken if we are to reinforce and strengthen conditions for women, who inspire societies and shape the future, both economically and socially. Taking this into consideration, we have started on a path to make the future better, both professionally and individually, by joining forces with our female colleagues, with whom we can build on the earth-shaking success of iGA, overcome difficulties, and share just how proud we are of our awards. We believe that iGA's admission to UN WEPs is an important step that will empower and inspire us on our journey, and we believe that the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) set forth by the United Nations will serve as a valuable guide.
