The Egyptian Exchange

Dr Islam Azzam (M)

Chairman of The Egyptian Exchange

As Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange, I take great pride in our longstanding commitment to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). Since formalizing this dedication in April 2016, the EGX has consistently championed the inclusion of women in leadership roles across Egypt's capital market. We even encourage our listed companies to adopt governance practices ensuring at least 25% women representation on their boards, fostering greater diversity and decision-making excellence. Enabling women's full participation in economic life is far more than a moral imperative; it is a critical strategy for building resilient economies and fostering stable, equitable societies. By empowering women, we enhance the quality of life for families and communities alike. Through the WEPs initiative, the EGX continues to drive the governance and innovation necessary to create a sustainable financial ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.
