At Clover Organic, some of the strongest institutions we have seen in rural India have been led by women farmers who were never expected to lead at all. Over the years, working across agricultural communities, we saw women sustaining farms and local economies while remaining largely invisible within formal agricultural structures. That reality shaped how we approached our work. Through women-led Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), training, entrepreneurship development, market linkages, and livelihood support, we have worked to strengthen women's leadership and economic participation. For us, women's empowerment is not a separate vertical within development—it is deeply connected to sustainability itself. Communities become more resilient when women have greater opportunities to participate and lead, and sustainable agriculture becomes stronger when the people already sustaining it are finally given the space to do so.
