Today marks a very significant day for Baobab Nigeria as we officially adopt the United Nations' Women's Empowerment Principles. We are a financial institution on a social mission and therein lies the essence of the business that we do. As an organization we understand deeply that empowering women plays a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of our society therefore we have made it an integral part of our practice to promote gender equality in the workplace (women constitute about 45% of our workforce); financial inclusion for women; Education for young girls; to mention but a few. We hereby affirm our commitment this day to uphold the seven (7) United Nations WEPs which will onward serve as our guiding tools in ensuring adequate implementation in advancing women empowerment and report periodically on the progress of our activities."
