In my career, I have fought each step without asking for help because I thought I had to prove myself. I got help from empowering people, but I also noticed women don't get that easily and don't usually ask for that. The gender imbalance touches us formally and informally. It is engrained in the rules and salary lists of companies as much as in the behaviour of both genders. It is time for us to unite into changing that.
